This grandparent wall is my favorite photo gallery in my home. Every time I walk by it I smile and think of the life my grandparents have lived. I am also reminded how richly blessed I was/am to learn and be loved by them for so many years.

I count every day a blessing to still have my Opa around.
He is the world's greatest Opa and YES, he reads my blog - Hi Opa :-)

I plan to keep adding to that wall (once I collect some more rustic frames) for my husbands side of the family. There aren't words to describe how much all of these pictures mean!!
My husband's grandparents on his dad's side. I'm not quite sure what to think of that ruffle collar ;-)
Honestly, don't you love that swimsuit!
My husband's grandma on his mom's side. She looks a lot like Judy Garland to me :-)
I'd love this post to be an encouragement to all of you to collect some photos so that you can make a photo gallery too. :-) Don't forget to take some of those photos and scan them into the computer so you have them saved on a hard file!
And.........since we're talking about grandparents and preserving memories, my good friend wrote the BEST blog post about a notebook she made for her grandma to fill out. It's such a wonderful idea. I hope you guys click on over there and read what she did.....just a warning.....you may get a little teary eyed (in a good way!!!)
Experiencing the past and enriching the present - Selina :-)

Love that childhood picture of Opa!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Pic #2 of the young girl & boy is just perfect! Love that he has a little ring on.
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't notice that! I wonder what that means......did all boys have rings in those days? I'll have to ask him.....or maybe you know why they did that? :-)
DeleteMaybe so ... seems like I remember seeing some old photos of my mom's brothers when they were young with rings on. So neat, isn't it?! When my nephews were born almost 30-something yrs ago, my mom & dad bought both of them infant rings. When my sons were born 18 & 15 yrs ago, she couldn't find them to purchase.
DeleteI love this idea and I've been wanting to do a family tree wall forEVER. Hopefully when we move into our next house and can finally get settled. Yours turned out beautifully. Those pictures are priceless.
ReplyDeleteWonderful Selina. I need to do this :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this post, I have had a similar idea for so long and have been putting it off when in reality you never know how much time you actually have with them! I'm getting on the phone with my Grandother today!
